I know an old lady...

You should seriously think about purchasing as many books on CD from Scholastic as you can!!  I love that I do not have to read the story-- sounds silly.. but by the end of the day.. I have no desire to read a book!  So, I love to use these books.  They also have comprehension questions after the story!  So great!!

Can I just say... I'm so thankful tomorrow is Friday!!!!!!  This week has felt like an eternity.  This might be because I am waiting for my principal to pop in or that I am pregnant and tired... either way. I need Thanksgiving break to come a little faster!

Have a great Friday!

Matter: Solid, Liquid, & Gas!

Last week during Science we discussed matter and the world around us!  This year I decided to spruce up my science unit on matter and create a few activities of my own.  So of course, I had to make a unit to sell!  Click on the picture to check it out!

I began the unit by reading the poems about each state of matter.  Then, we sorted pictures by the state of matter as a class. After this each child had their own tree map to sort pictures so I could check their learning.

I also love that my school has Brainpopjr as a resource!!!  I used all 3 of their videos on Matter during this unit.

If you teach Matter-- check out this mini unit.  It's perfect to add to any science curriculum or just simply to teach the states of matter!

I've been Boo-ed!

Here are the rules of Boo-ing someone:

1. Give a shout out to the blogger who booed you and link back to their site!
2. Share 3-5 October activities, books, products (yours or someone else), or freebie(s) that you love!
3. Share the Boo love with 5 bloggers- make sure you check this link to make sure you don't boo someone again: http://toristeachertips.blogspot.com/2012/10/ive-been-booed-fun-october-linky.html
<And don't forget to tell them that they have been BOOED!>
4. Link up {here} so that others can find you and read about your October ideas! And while you are there... check out the other great blogs!

Thanks to Tangelia from Buggy in Kindergarten for Boo-ing me!

Ok, here are a few Fall activities we have been doing in my K classroom:

I have to mention my pack.  My kids are loving these centers!!! I've mentioned them in a few posts before this one.

We will be making these next week to go in our memory books!

We also made these on the week I introduced the sight word the.

Now onto Boo-ing other bloggers...
It might be impossible to Boo anyone.. I just read over the list and forget everyone I just read.. There are 106 people on the list. haha!  I think I'll just pick randomly.  If you have been Boo-ed, it won't hurt my feelings one bit if you don't do it again :)

Fall Math & Literacy Snapshot!

Spooky Spiders is a Dice Game.  Each child rolls 1 or 2 dice.  Then, they count out the # of spiders and write the # on the spider web.  I used die-cuts that I had laminated from last year.

Pumpkin Roll and Cover is also an easy dice game!  They roll 2 dice.  Find the sum and color the pumpkin!

Silly Skeletons was one of my Literacy Centers from today.  We used a little magnifying glass to help us hunt down sight words on the skeletons.  The kids LOVED this center!

These are just a few snapshots from this week.  I will post a few more pictures later this week or possibly next week!  Click the picture below to check out my  Fall pack!

Click the picture above if you want a FREE copy of these sight word cards.  I only have the words we have learned so far.  I teach with Treasures, so they're perfect for anyone who uses that!!

Spooky Syllables- differentiating instruction

I have decided to work more on creating activities to differentiate instruction.  Well, in my Fall Pack on tpt I created a little activity with sorting syllables.  What better way to differentiate instruction than by giving the higher children a harder task??  So, I didn't just create one sheet-- but two!  The first page only has a few pictures for student A to sort and the second page has 9 syllables for student B to sort.  That way... my sweet friends that take about a year to cut paper.. cough cough (being dead serious!!), will have something they can accomplish and the higher kids who sit there bored while everyone else is cutting.. will still be working!
