Color Word Fun!

I have always loved teaching my kiddos the color words.  It's not fun if they struggle with it.. but for the most part by the end of the year my kiddos have always mastered this skill.

Here are just a few ways I teach and review the color words!

My kiddos LOVE to use a magnifying glass.  Searching for color words is a fun way to review those color words all year long!

If you like this and want to try it out, click the picture below (there is a freebie in the preview).

When I introduce each color word we do a circle map from my Crazy for Color Words Unit.

We play this game in the computer lab to review the words.

Of course, we can't forget those catchy color word songs.  I think that's the trick to getting them to memorize the words.

I searched color words on Pinterest and found a ton of AWESOME resources!!!  Don't ya just love Pinterest?!?!

One of the resources I came across was from this blog:

She keeps a bag of all the color words di-cut out of laminated construction paper to match the word.  Kids can put them in order as a center, at the end of individual work or even do this whole group!  I LOVE this idea.  Plus, it's cheap and easy to make!

I also found this awesome FREEBIE on Pinterest by Renee Dooly.

What are some fun ways you teach the color words???

What I'm pinning Wednesday!

I'm linking up with Laura over at Kinder Kraziness for What I'm Pinning Wednesday!

1.
Students must highlight their name before turning in their paper.

I thought this was a neat idea.  To make sure your little friends write their name on their paper.. they have to high-light it before turning it in! Genious!!  You know they'd love that too!

2.
Printing on to Post-It notes - who would've gussed?

Seriously, this is awesome! So glad I found this pin.  Learning to print on post-it notes. Very cool!

3.
Dry erase boards made out of picture frames! This would be awesome for a teacher's desk to keep reminders/to do's on. Wouldn't get lost in all the other papers :) I should make these for my team... Hmm!!

I think I'm going to make these for my Kindergarten team.  They are mini dry erase boards for your desk.  It would be perfect for bus change reminders, faculty meetings, etc...

4.
Magnetic spice jar for Box Top saver. The big slot is perfect for the box tops, convenient right on fridge - excellent!
I should make this!  I need somewhere to put my boxtops I collect (instead of in a random drawer).

Welp, that's it for today!! I hope you are enjoying your summer break.  Click the top picture to link up with Laura.

I love that these are expectations and not rules!  I also love that they each say, "We will..."  So great! I want to print this and turn it into a poster for next year!

This would be great to do during the first few weeks of school as an easy literacy center.

I pinned from Happiness Is...:

Except of course it will say Kindergarten.. instead of 1st grade for me!

And although I do not have children of my own yet (someday...) I definitly want to do this one day!

You make a crate for each child adding file folders that say Pre-K-12th grade.  So each year when they bring home something you want to keep you will not forget where you put it! Great idea!!!

Welp- those are my favs!! Happy Hump Day! Don't forget to link up with Laura to join in the pinterest fun!
